Interior of Croik Church

The pulpit and some of the pews of the Church at Croik. It was outside here many of the Highlanders fleeing for their lives took refuge. Afraid to shelter inside because it was The House of God.

Comments:
The story I heard had a different thread to it. the church was locked against them due to some previous disagreement. The church they had transferred to, had either been burnt down or they were barred from the land it was on. The version I heard gives it, that they died of starvation and hypothermia. Like I say this is the version I heard, obviously the church would probably deny such events, but if the people were outside the building for any length of time, where were the clergy and church elders?
